Durgadas Rodney Lingham

Durgadas (Rodney) Lingham

Durgadas (‘Rodney’) Lingham, [R.A.P, Dip. P.Psych, Dip. Nat., A.Y.T, AMPKT ] is an Indian born in a traditional Vaidika (Vedic) Hindu lineage spanning several generations.

He comes from an ancient family having both Shakta and Vaidika roots and belongs to the very first lineage in modern-times to translate and bring sciences and deep insights from the Rig Veda in the 18th Century. He continues to research and work within this continuity, expanding this Vaidika knowledge. His maternal grandfather (nana) was a Vaidika and Samskrita scholar.

Durgadas thus feels it important to restore the traditional views and values of Vaidika (Vedic), teachings rather than modern distortions regarding these sciences popularized both in India and the West promoted by non-Hindus with little knowledge in these areas and not having been raised in these traditions.

Apart from growing up in a traditional Vaidika lineage (Parashara parampara) and learning Ayurveda, Yoga and other sciences since young from his family, Durgadas became an advanced student of Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) – one of the world’s leading authorities on Ayurveda, Yoga and Vedic sciences, in his mid-teens. Durgadas works internationally as a Vaidya (Ayurvedic Practitioner), Veda Kovid (Traditional Scholar and Teacher of Indology, Veda and Tantra) and Jyotishi (Vedic Astrologer and Psychologist).

Durgadas is one of the most important traditional scholars and teachers of both Veda and Tantra working in the world today, with his field of insight extending to Ayurveda and Jyotish.

Though still quite young, he has a deep understanding of the esoteric doctrines, mantras and yoga practices that is extremely rare today even in senior teachers in India today.

Along with this, he has the ability to express the teachings in extensive writings that cover all the main aspects of Vedic and Yogic concern.

As an Ayurvedic vaidya, he has new insights as to the disease process based upon his extensive study and research with herbs and mantras. As a jyotishi, he takes the key principles of planets, signs and Nakshatras and applies them with skill and adaptability relative to birth charts today.

As a Vedic teacher, he knows the secret Yoga and mantra Sadhana hidden behind the most ancient Rigvedic mantras and deities.

As a tantric teacher, he understands the energies and personalities of the Goddnedd and is able to put receptive students in touch with them and the sadhanas for working with them. We look forward to his many contributions in the years to come.

As a Vaidya (Ayurvedic Practitioner)

As an ancient medical system, Ayurveda is more than a few shaman rituals or village-practices that fell into disrepute. The ancient classical system of Ayurveda by the Acharyas included advances in fields as surgery, microbiology and genetics!

– Durgadas

Durgadas not only comes from a long lineage of traditional Vedic people of the Brahmin (Priestly) caste of India, but has also specially trained in all aspects of Ayurveda in Kerala, India under traditionally-trained Vaidyas (Ayurvedic Doctors) and therapists who form a part of the Ashtavaidya system of Ayurveda, going back some 1,500 years through the Ayurvedic physician Vagbhata, having older roots in Kalari (Martial arts).

He has also extensively studied Clinical Ayurveda as well as Ayurvedic Panchakarma (detoxification and rejuvenation), Pharmacology (herbs), Ayurvedic Cooking and Psychology, Astrology and Yoga in depth from Indian traditional masters as well as BAMS lecturers and has thousands of hours of formal training in all fields of this ancient science, including with Dr. Joshi in Nagpur, Maharashtra. He is the founder of the Purna Ayurveda system, which is taught to advanced students through his Academy of Traditional Ayurveda, which looks back at the original Ayurvedic classics that Durgadas has spent countless hours studying and researching, in order to bring out a true, authentic Ayurveda as it once was!

In NZ, Durgadas has also been proactive in promoting Rongoa (Traditional Maori Medicine) and its synthesis with other native systems.

In his lectures at universities around NZ, Durgadas has highlighted his system of 3024 psychological phenotypes (or archetypes), based on the Vaidika system, and 900,000 levels of the mind.

As a Jyotishi (Vedic Astrologer and Psychologist)

Astrology represents the sum of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity”

– Psychologist, Carl Jung

As a Jyotishi (Vedic Astrologer) Durgadas give special consideration to Ayurvedic psychology and its important role relative to health, as well as going beyond the normal constitutional and diagnostic analysis, which today is mainly of a mechanical nature alone; he brings in the deeper original methods of assessing the mind-body complex in a more complex and integral manner, carefully considering all aspects of the person before giving recommendations, which are also specially tailored to the individual, as also with several insights learned from classical texts in tradition that are greatly ignored today.

Durgadas is also trained in the ancient art of hasta-rekha or palmistry as well, and also combines this with chart readings, always along with harmonic charts, which he also teaches students. He has done over 3,000 natal readings, globally.

Durgadas consults internationally with clients from New Zealand, India, North America, Australia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Fiji and others from all walks of life.
